Young Lions Competition 2024 application process has started
THE CANNES LIONS FESTIVAL REPRESENTATIVE WEISCHER IS ONCE AGAIN LOOKING FOR THE MOST TALENTED YOUNG CREATIVES TO MAKE UP THE GERMAN YOUNG LIONS TEAM. IF YOU WANT TO BE PART OF “TEAM GERMANY”, YOU CAN NOW APPLY FOR THIS YEAR’S NATIONAL YOUNG LIONS COMPETITION AT WWW.YOUNGLIONS.DE.
In the Young Lions Competition, top young creatives from up to 70 countries compete against each other to be honoured as winners at the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity. A challenging task awaits the candidates: they must implement the brief of a given non-profit organisation within just 24 hours and then present it to a jury of experts. Applicants compete as a team of two and must not be older than 30 at the time of the festival. A total of six categories are available for the national competition: Film, Print, Design, Media, Digital and PR. The application deadline is 22 February 2024.
The five best teams from the applications in each category will be invited by Weischer to the pre-competitions in Hamburg in April. There, they will have to realise a previously unknown briefing within 24 hours (48 hours of film) under Cannes conditions. A jury will then decide who will be part of the German team and thus represent the country in the respective category. The participants then attend a boot camp organised by Weischer, where industry leaders prepare them optimally for the competition.
“Our young talent has enormous potential. The last few years have shown this and, as a long-standing festival representative, we are always impressed by the creative and operational excellence of the young talent. Even experienced creatives can learn a thing or two here,” says Florian Weischer, Co Chairman of Weischer. “We are convinced that this year, too, we have put together a Team Germany that can hold its own against the strong international competition.”
The Young Lions candidates have big shoes to fill once again. In the last two years, the German Young Lions have won various medals in Cannes:
2022
- Gold for Rafael Quintal and Willian Cega from Ogilvy; Print category
- Silver for Fabian Lange and Joaquin Aubele from Heimat; Film category
- Bronze for Katharina Kiriakou (Philipp und Keuntje) and Alexander Walter (Grabarz & Partner); PR category
2023
- Silver for Juan Andrés Kebork (INNOCEAN Berlin) and Alejandro Gabarda (Jung von Matt SPREE); Print category
- Bronze for Odile Breffa and Rowan El-Goweiny from INNOCEAN Berlin; PR category
