These are the German Young Lions 2024

The German Cannes Lions Festival Representative Weischer is sending 12 young talents from Mediaplus Group, HeimatTBWA\, Accenture Song, loved, BBDO and Scholz & Friends to the international Young Lions Competition in Cannes. They were selected by a high-calibre jury as the most talented young creatives in Germany.

A challenging task now awaits the youngsters: they have to implement a real, unknown customer briefing for a specified non-profit organisation in Cannes within just 24 hours and face an expert jury. In total, around 70 countries compete against each other in the Young Lions Competition to be recognised as the best young creatives at the end.

The following talents qualified for “Team Germany” 2024:

  • Design: Louis Ziemke and Mike Dziambor from loved
  • Film: Inna Tabachenko and Lisa Glonti from BBDO
  • Print: Martin Keipert and Michael Yousaf from Scholz & Friends
  • Media: Alice Tarantin and Lena Handel from Mediaplus Group
  • PR: Timo Zwiesigk and Diogo Brandao from HeimatTBWA\
  • Digital: Antonia Backert and Lennart Tewes from Accenture Song

On 16 May, the German Young Lions team will prepare for the competition at the digital boot camp with renowned industry giants such as Diana Sukopp, Sascha Hanke (Häppy), Christian Doering, Susanne Grundmann (Omnicom Media Group) and Eugenia Lagemann (fischerAppelt).

The international Young Lions Competition will then take place during the Cannes Lions Festival week from 17-21 June in Cannes. The costs for travelling and accommodation for the German Young Lions will be covered by the German festival representative Weischer.

The young creatives were able to apply for the categories film, print, design, digital, media and PR. The best teams were invited to Weischer in Hamburg and had to realise a previously unknown briefing for customers Bitburger, Kleinanzeigen, Fielmann, Goodlife Company, Rügenwalder and Gut Haidehof within 24 hours (48 hours for film) under competitive conditions. The concepts were then presented to the expert jury. They then decided which participants would make it onto “Team Germany”.

Moritz Weischer, Chief Marketing Officer Weischer: “The extraordinary achievements of the young creatives will also attract international attention. This year’s class has already shown in the national competition what the competition can expect. I am convinced that our German talents will bring home medals again this year.”
The expert jury is also impressed by the young talents.

Susan Hoelling, Co CEO BCW: “I am thrilled with the performance of the talents I have seen. Promoting young talent is essential for our industry and I would like to encourage all young creatives to use the Young Lions Competition as a platform. Especially in these times, we need creativity and I am sure that you will enrich the advertising world with your fresh ideas.”

Christian Rentschler, Executive Creative Director Accenture Song: “The quality of the concepts was impressive. The Young Lions competition offers young talents the opportunity to showcase their skills on a national and international level. At the same time, they can draw inspiration and make important contacts in the industry.”

Nina Louisa Matzat, Co-Founder & General Manager Plan.Net Studios (Serviceplan Group): “The Young Lions competition was impressive. 24 hours of preparation, 5 minutes of pitch – even senior creatives rarely achieve what this group delivered. The quality of the results was outstanding for all the teams. I always take a good look at young talent – especially young women, who so often underestimate their abilities. All the participants should be absolutely proud. I know we are sending the right team to Cannes and the other teams will continue to rock in the future.”
