It Matters Conference and Nacht der Löwen 2022
On October 27, everything revolved around the Cannes Lions Festival. After a two-year hiatus, we once again invited Germany’s top creatives to Hamburg for the “Nacht der Löwen.” But that’s not all. With the premiere of the It Matters Conference, we also brought creatives together during the day, inspiring them with top-notch speakers.
IT MATTERS CONFERENCE
As the long-standing official representative of the Cannes Lions, we proudly organized the It Matters Conference for the first time ever. This event provided a dynamic platform for Cannes winners, fostering vibrant discussions on their works, innovative ideas, and trends in the creative industry.
The lineup of speakers was impressive, featuring Diether Kerner (FischerAppelt), Diana Sukopp (DDB), Toan Mai (Goodby Silverstein & Partners), Nils Schwemer (ICONOCLAST), Henning Westerwelle (Curious Company), Niat Asfaw Graça (Serviceplan Bubble), Katharina Kiriakou (Achtung!), Alexander Walter (Achtung!), Daniel Koller (Seven. One Adfactory), Fabian Lange (Heimat Berlin), Jörn Menge (Laut gegen Nazis e.V.), Nicolas Klein (Philipp und Keuntje), Oliver Busch (Meta), Max Penk (IT’S US MEDIA), Lars Holling (Serviceplan), Kai Meinert (Telefónica/O2), Jan Kubran (Sony Music), and Gordon Euchler (Deloitte Consulting). In total, the conference attracted over 200 guests.
Nacht der Löwen
“I am happy to be back here after a two-year break.”, Florian Weischer welcomed around 350 invited guests to the “Nacht der Löwen” at the CURIO-HAUS in Hamburg with these words. There, for the first time after the pandemic-induced hiatus, the Cannes Lions, the Oscars of advertising, were awarded. Florian mentioned it was a special year with exceptional creations and winners.
German agencies won a total of 40 Lions at the International Festival of Creativity, including a Grand Prix and a Titanium Lion. Both went to Serviceplan for the campaigns DOT.PAD, a graphic display for visually impaired and blind people, and Penny’s Christmas ad “The Wish.”
Franziska Knoefel and Moritz Weischer hosted the festive award show, presenting the Cannes Lions to the creatives. The evening concluded with standing ovations and a photo with all German Cannes winners before transitioning into the Aftershow Party. At the event, it was announced that we were named the “Representative of the Year” by the Cannes Festival leadership.
This recognition honors our long-standing contributions and significant commitment to the International Festival of Creativity. We report live from Cannes, present trend topics from the festival, host the German Beach, and support creative talent with the Young Lions program.
